FOCUS PREP PROGRAM

Decatur FOCUS Prep

In September 2022, College Ave Consulting launched the FOCUS Prep Program for high school students at Decatur High School in Decatur, GA. This collaboration between College Ave Consulting, the Decatur Education Foundation, and the Decatur Housing Authority provides free college and career counseling for students in 9th-12th grades.

Program Model

Each student is matched with a volunteer mentor ("coach") from the community. College Ave Consulting provides training and resources to the coaches, so the coaches can directly support their students. College Ave Consulting provides monthly in-person workshops for all students and coaches, as well as monthly virtual check-in sessions for coaches. For this program, College Ave Consulting developed a full college counseling curriculum to assist students in each grade level so they can plan and be prepared for post graduation plans.
